West’s mistery unveiled. In 2018 he’s been found positive to the main cocaine metabolite
After almost a year we managed to shed lights on Anthony West mystery. On 8 July 2018, the Australian pilot tested positive for benzoylecgonine, the cocainemain metabolite.
Benzoylecgonine, is the substance found in most urinary tests carried out to detect cocaine intake.
The pilot has been suspended from 14 September 2018 to 14 September 2020. The appeal to the CAS was withdrawn on 13 May 2019.
We have often dealt with West’s case but we have always heard only the pilot’s version of the story. The professional ethics requires us to hear all the bells and we have contacted directly the FIM Medical and Anti-Doping Commission which has clarified all doubts.
In the light of this new informations we also understand the behavior of Kawasaki who wanted to take distance from the pilot itself.
The FIM will soon issue a press release.
